All about Mixtapes, DJ Mixtapes and much more

The rich and long legacy of music suggests that Mixtapes have been a significant part of the hip-hop culture since the 1970s. In those days it was known as the party tapes. Yes, you have guessed that right; the 70s Mixtapes thus allowed music fans to share and collect great tunes and great music while out at the hot club or at any new joint.
In fact the old Mixtapes categorically featured a whole range of tracks and artists which even included unreleased and other exclusive tracks, such as the special DJ mixes, the freestyle sessions, chopped and screwed tracks that consist of popular songs played at a much slower speeds and layered with scratches and cuts and much more. It is necessary to mention here that things have not changed much. DJ Mixtapes and the wide range of hip hop Mixtapes still stand as the popular ways to get their names and music out to the streets.

Well, when we say hip hop, we specifically mean the homemade audio or video tapes with an entire collection of songs of the hip-hop genre sung by different people (by both established and novice artists). Typically in most of the cases Free Mixtapes are used as a means of advertising of the young and amateur artists who are out in getting their talents recognized.  Of course, mixtapes stand as a staggering way of advertising and it is not hard to find a number of numbers of artists (who are nowadays a craze in the Hip-Hop world) who have made their career through the production and sale of Mixtapes.

As already briefed the concept of Mixtapes was initially introduced by DJs who frequented popular clubs. They recorded the popular songs and used to sell them to different type of customers at the club for their personal use. That’s right; all the popular songs were recorded after doing slight changes and were sold to the club members and to other interested people for a particular price. Possibly you know this that some of the Hip Hop Mixtapes were sold for prices as high as 75$!
Mixtapes are still high on demand and people, especially the upcoming artists consider this as typically a cheap tool for advertisement. And in today’s world where web power truly rules you can download free Mixtapes within just few clicks of your mouse.
